Grant Kinzer pulls in one of his 10 catches.
A rematch beckons for Colton in the 1B state football quarterfinals.
After a dominant win over Inchellium last week at Kettle Falls, the Wildcats travel to Grandview Friday to meet Sunnyside Christian, a league foe which beat them 42-36 Oct. 14.
The Knights remain unbeaten.
Gametime is 7 p.m. on the Grandview High School turf field. The winner will be one of just four 1B teams remaining for a shot at the Tacoma Dome.
Colton 74, Inchelium 26
The tone was set early as Colton scored 24 points in five plays.
Inchelium took possession first and, on fourth down-and-four from their own 29-yard line, they went for it. Colton stuffed them and scored two plays later, the second a 24-yard pass from Brady Chadwick to Grant Kinzer.
After the kickoff, Inchelium (8-3) drove to the Colton 21-yard line and went for it again on fourth down. The Wildcats denied them once more and took possession. Chadwick dropped back and threw across the middle to Kinzer, who broke open a 79-yard touchdown.
At the end of the first quarter, Colton led 24-0.
By the fourth, Wildcats coach Clark Vining pulled Chadwick and sent in Reece Chadwick to finish the game.
All told, Brady threw 23 of 30 attempts for 399 yards and eight touchdowns. Kinzer had 10 catches for 226 yards, Reece Chadwick had five catches for 73 yards and Luke Vining caught three for 82 yards. Cameron Bean had four receptions for 29 yards.
“We played a real good ballgame in all phases,” said Coach Vining.
Colton (9-3) will now play Sunnyside Christian in a second test against the Southeast 1B league rival.
“We're pretty familiar with them,” Vining said. “They have some weapons. For us, maybe a little extra motivation to play them again.”
Other state 1B quarterfinal games Friday are Neah Bay vs. Tacoma Baptist, Naselle vs. Lummi and Almira/ Coulee/Hartline vs. Odessa/Harrington.
The Wildcats last played in the state quarterfinals in 2013 against Rosalia, losing at Clarkston High School.
