Anna Marie Hansen
Anna Marie (Jennen) Hansen, 80, Latah, died Dec. 11, 2016, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Born March 25, 1936, in Veblen, S.D., she married Marvin Hansen after graduating from high school, and they lived in Wyoming and Montana before settling in a small farm in Latah.
Mr. Hansen died Sept. 18, 2005.
Surviving are their children Martin, Keith, Wanda and Harley; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service was Sunday, Dec. 18, at Latah Country Bible Church followed by a reception at Anna's home.
A graveside service was Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Latah City Cemetery.
Lee Higginson
Lee Higginson, 74, longtime Colfax businessman, died Dec. 6, 2016, at his Colfax home. A memorial service will be next spring.
Born Jan. 19, 1942, in Los Angeles to Hollis and Elina Parque Higginson, he was the oldest of the three children who all grew up in the Los Angeles area. He attended a Catholic school, graduated with honors, and then attended East L.A. Community College. He and Mary Fishero met while they were both working for a business forms company. The were married in Montebello, Calif., Jan. 25, 1964. They made their first home in Montebello.
Mr. Higginson always worked in sales, usually retail. They moved to Spokane and then settled in Colfax 21 years ago. They took over the Colfax Furniture Store from Lou Grimes and changed the name of the business to Hunter's Furniture. They also owned and operated Hunter's Appliance in Colfax.
Lee enjoyed playing golf and collecting stamps. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colfax and of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving him are his wife of nearly 53 years, Mary, at their Colfax home; seven children, Michael (Valerie) Higginson and Mary (Jake) Hahn, both of Colfax; Elizabeth (Craig) Hershey of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Paul Higginson, Pullman; Teresa Higginson Madrid, Spokane; Sarah Lasher, Post Falls, and Catherine (David) Stoner, Spokane Valley; a brother and sister, Denis Higginson and Suzanne Higginson, both in California; 33 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph.

Esther Brose Logsdon
Esther Martha Brose Logsdon, 93, a member of the 1942 class of Colfax High School, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at the Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Walla Walla. She had made her home in Walla Walla for the past 44 years.
Born Nov. 10, 1923, in Colfax to John M. and Mabel Crumbaker Brose, she attended Hubbard School before going to high school in Colfax. She worked as a telephone operator for three years and then married Delbert E. Logsdon Jan. 25, 1946. They made their home in Colfax before moving to Walla Walla.
Mrs. Logsdon was a member of the Ingle Chapel Congregational Church for the last 27 years. She was a life member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her children, Mary Lynn (John) Shilvock, Cye D. (Susan) Logsdon, Lester D. (Bertha) Logsdon, Maxine D. (Louie) Heidenrich, Robert M. (Dee Dee) Logsdon; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Logsdon was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William K. Logsdon, and a granddaughter, Sunshine D. Heidenrich.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Ingle Chapel Congregational Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ingle Chapel scholarship fund in care of Munsell-Rhodes Funeral Chapel in Milton-Freewater.
Linda VanDerSloot
A funeral service for Linda Louise VanDerSloot, 73, Rosalia, was Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church Rosalia. She died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, in Cheney.
She was born Oct. 19, 1943, in Sidney, N.Y. to Vaughn and Doris Herrick, and moved with her family to Brea, Calif., when she was 10. She married Jackson Hash in 1960, and they moved to Dublin, Calif., in 1965 where they raised their three children. They were divorced in 1983, and she married Adriaan VanDerSloot in 1987. They moved in 1990 to Rosalia where she has resided since. They were divorced in 2004.
Surviving are her three children; Jerald Hash, Curtis Hash, and Monica Chandler; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
