Colfax girls beat Reardan, TR

Colfax girls over the weekend booked two more wins over NE foes to run their league record to 4-0. The Bulldogs Wednesday were scheduled to put their new league string on the line when they hosted the Liberty Lancers who have rolled up a 6-0 mark after a late start on the season.

Liberty rolled past Asotin 66-30 in the Friday league game at Asotin with Christine Denny hitting 21 points. They topped Reardan Tuesday 53-37.

Colfax coach Corey Baerlocher Tuesday said he and the team looked forward to the Liberty clash. He noted all team members Tuesday showed up for a practice session which was made optional with the Tuesday snow closure at Colfax.

Colfax Saturday night rolled past Tekoa/Rosalia 56-23 with a dominating floor game. The Timberwolves for most of the night had a tough time getting their offense going.

Tekoa/Rosalia committed 32 turnovers for the game with the Bulldogs bagging 18 steals. A lot of those came when the T-wolves started their offense after bringing the ball down the court.

Piper Cai had five of the Colfax steals, and Taylor Garcia and Carmen Gfeller each had four.

Baerlocher credited Tekoa/Rosalia with playing tough under the bucket. Colfax had 27 rebounds for the game, and Tekoa/Rosalia booked 23. Gfeller topped Colfax scoring with 23 points. Hannah Beach led the guests with six.

Baerlocher and TR coach Rob Hudkins put all their players in the game before the clock ran out.

Friday at Reardan, Colfax took a 57-36 win after getting off to a slow start. Reardan cracked a 13-12 lead after the first quarter, but Colfax kicked it into gear in the second frame for a 32-21 lead at the break. They took the third frame 18-7.

Gfeller and Cai each hit 15 points for Colfax at Reardan. Gfeller also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Reardan had 31 turnovers against the Bulldogs with 22 of them coming off Colfax steals. Cai tallied six steals and the three assists for the game.

Colfax loaded its foul count early in the game and finished with 19.

Lizzy Williams led the Indians with 12 points. Reardan hit an even 50 percent, 11-for-22, off the toss line.
