Dahmen shows

plein air art

"On The Road Again - Palouse backroads and byways en plein air” is the title of the winter exhibit at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown. The exhibit opens today, Thursday, and runs through Feb. 26. The opening reception will be held Sunday, Jan. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Plein air painting is a phrase borrowed from the French equivalent meaning "open (in full) air". It is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Six artists who have named themselves "Group Six" will display paintings of local scenery in watercolor, pastel and oil.

Group Six was originally a group of four studio painters who fell in love with the Plein Air mode. Members include Nick Bode, Moscow; Cathy Gottschalk, Deary; Jill Hosmer, Clarkston; Barney Saneholtz, Pullman; Joyce Tamura, Moscow, and Jan Vogtman, Troy.
