Zarings host holiday guests

Lelia and Keith Zaring were hosts for many guests over the holiday season. Henry Zaring, Clovis Air Base, had a 10-day leave he spent with his grandparents. Christmas day guests included nieces Kathy Clark and Lynn Knott, Colfax; grandsons Zach Zaring, Colfax and Austin Zaring and friend Julia, Pullman; sons Roger and Peggy Zaring, Dusty, and Paul and Traci Zaring and Angie, Tri-Cities.

Henry’s former school friends Austin and Trent of the Tri-Cities came to visit him during his leave. Also, Henry’s father and step-mother stayed until Henry had to return to base. Drop-in guests were Renee' Horton of Seattle and Devin Jones of New York City.

Guests at the home of Warren and Connie Horton over Christmas were their daughter Renee’ Horton, Seattle, and granddaughter Devin Jones, New York City. The two stayed five days.

David and Phyllis Stueckle hosted late Christmas celebration for family members Doug and Cheryl Stueckle, Coeur d’Alene, and Karen and Larry Light and Joshua and Emmaly, Portland.

Guests at the Dick and Helen Appel home for Christmas dinner were Bruce, Elaine, Logan, Charlie and Spenser Appel, Spokane; Lisa, Travis, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette Frei, Palouse; Neil, Liz, Josh, Noemi, Isaac, John Paul, and Grace Appel, Dusty; Steve Appel, Dusty; Dave, Alice and Charlie Appel, Colfax.

Coming the following day to stay for the three days of the Appel Pig Butchering were Bruce Appel, Elaine, Logan, Charlie and Spenser Appel, Spokane; Caroline, Rob, Zack, Kade, Elly and Luciene Kunkel, Pullman; Barb, Bruce, and Kate Wollstein, Lacey; Joanne, Pat and Quinn Corrigan, Bothel; Beth, David, Kristin, Rebecca Lohmeyer, Gig Harbor; Deb and Bob Stavig, Brush Prairie and Alyssa Stavig, Durham, N.C. Joining them for meals were Eric, Shannon, Connor, Christopher, Sarah, Kyle and Sidney Appel, Dusty; and Lisa, Travis, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette Frei, Palouse.

The family potluck held during butchering was at the Dick Appel home because of illness at the Steve Appel residence.

Approximately 70 people attended the potluck.

Hennigar Trucking hosted a Holiday Shop Party in their new building Friday evening. Attending from Dusty were Linda Hennigar and Jim Moore, Aaron and Dana Repp, Dick and Suzy McNeilly and Kent and Jessica Monson.

Loren Scaggs and Beth Kristie went snowmobiling at Priest Lake with friends Kyle and Lisa Hawley, Stan and Penny Hawley and Lee and Charlotte Hawley, all of Moscow. They went up Friday and returned home Tuesday.

Vicki Broeckel joined Mike and Michelle Carver in attending the Bodies Human exhibit at the Mobias Science Center in Spokane on Saturday.

Selbu Lutheran Church and Country Bible Church both cancelled services Sunday due to inclement weather.

Dusty B.B. Club will meet Jan. 11 beginning at 9 a.m. in the parish hall of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse to make baby blankets for the free maternity clinic at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

Hostesses will be Fran Jones and Jenell Guske. Roll call will be: Your favorite movie.
