McDonald returns to Whitman H&R

Denny McDonald began Jan. 4 as the executive director of Whitman Health and Rehabilitation in Colfax. McDonald returns to the position on an interim basis after the departure of Ward Tappero.

McDonald's father, the late Roy McDonald, was the original builder and owner of the former Whitman Convalescent Center, which opened in 1985. Since then, Denny has worked at the facility for many years. Most recently, he served as admissions director/marketing director from 2009-13. He was executive director from 1985 until 2000.

“What brings me back, I like old folks, obviously. I miss the elderly, plus the employees up there,” he said. “I decided to come back and help.”

It is not yet determined how long McDonald will serve this time.

“Until they find somebody suitable,” he said.
