Volunteers sought for county committees

The Board of County Commissioners is seeking volunteers to serve on several county committees.

The ALTCEW Planning & Management Council needs two volunteers from anywhere in the county, and the Workforce Development Council seeks one volunteer, also from anywhere in the county.

The Blue Ribbon Advisory Task Committees seeks four volunteers to fill out a 12-person committee. The committee reviews applications for the county's .09 money for economic development.

The Capital Improvement Project Committee needs one volunteer from anywhere in the county. This committee helps to oversee improvements to county bridges, roads, buildings and property.

The Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials is in need of one legal volunteer and one business professional volunteer. This committee sets the salaries for all elected officials, with the exception of judges.

Six volunteers are needed for the Classification Committee. No description was available for this committee.

One volunteer is needed on the Development Services Advisory Board from anywhere in the county. This committee is charged with planning, advocating and ensuring services for those who are developmentally disabled.

The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee also is in need. One volunteer is needed from the business sector, while another seat is available to a tax recipient. This committee reviews how funds are distributed from the lodging tax.

The Palouse Empire Fair Board needs one volunteer, and the Parks Board also needs one volunteer. The Planning Commission seeks two volunteers.

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee, which advises Whitman County on all aspects of solid waste management planning and assists the county in development of solid waste programs and policies, needs 12 volunteers to fill out an 18-member committee.
