Colfax and Springdale boys will collide Friday on the north end in a game which will match two teams who booked splits in the first round NE south versus north competition last weekend. Colfax was topped 57-42 by Northwest Christian last Friday at Colbert and came home Saturday to peg a pull-away 66-33 win over the visiting Wilbur/Creston Wildcats.
The Chargers will host Colfax after sustaining a one-point loss, 63-64, to Liberty in the Friday night round and bouncing back to drop Reardan 65-40 in the Saturday round.
Colfax now stands at 7-4 overall on the season.
Friday night at Colbert, Colfax lagged 14-30 against the Crusaders after the first half and could not erase any of the deficit in the second half. Carson Cloaninger led Colfax with 13 points, and Jaydon Soncarty hit 12.
Ryan Ricks, back with the Crusaders this year as a senior, topped all scorers with 15 points.
After the Crusaders pegged the big lead in the first half, the two teams played pretty even over the last two quarters.
Saturday on their home court, the Bulldogs rolled to a 30-14 lead over the Wildcats, who arrived from Wilbur/Creston during a snow storm. Colfax continued to stack the lead in the second half on the way to the double-up win with senior Danny Robinson hitting 18 points.
Robinson and Cloaninger each hit three treys against the Wildcats, who had seven players listed above the six-foot mark.
Doug Rosman led the visitors with 10 points for the night. The Wildcats sustained a 9-for-23 setback off the toss line.
Colfax Saturday will host a Davenport team which booked two wins last weekend in the league race. The Gorillas Friday nudged the LRS Broncos 39-35, and Saturday they edged Tekoa/Rosalia 42-41 in a game at Rosalia.
The Gorillas have a 5-6 overall record.
