Colton girls lead league

Colton, Pomeroy and Oakesdale remain at the top of the Southeast 1B league girls standings this week with Colton still unbeaten and Pomeroy taking down Oakesdale for its first league loss. The Pirates and Nighthawks are now both 5-1 in league play while Colton is 6-0. Oakesdale will play at Colton Friday.

Pomeroy 47,

Oakesdale 35

Oakesdale went down at Pomeroy Jan. 7. Sydney Smith led the Pirates with 17 points while Madison Dixon and Kacey Halbert each scored nine to lift their record to 7-2 overall, 5-1 league.

Jacey Johnson and Logan Reed led the Nighthawks (8-3, 5-1) with 11 points each.

Colton 71,

Waitsburg 23

Intense defense from the Wildcats led to another dominant win for Colton (10-1, 6-0) as they started with a 23-4 lead in the first quarter at home Jan. 7. The Wildcats downed 13 three-pointers with five from Dakota Patchen and four from Meghan Devorak. Patchen's 19 points led Colton while Devorak scored 14 and Kendyl Druffel added 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Devon Harshman led Waitsburg with five points.

Garfield/Palouse 44, Prescott 35

Katie Arrasmith delivered a winning 21 points and 21 rebounds as the Vikings beat Prescott in a league matchup Jan. 7. Payson Griner added 16 points for Gar/Pal.

Colton 61, St. John/Endicott 10

Playing at St. John Jan. 6, the Wildcats held the Eagles to one field goal in a dominant league win.

The rest of St. John/Endicott's points came on 8-of-17 free-throw shooting.

Dakota Patchen led Colton with seven three-pointers and 23 points. Kendyl Druffel and Abby Kelly each added 10 points.

Pomeroy 50, Garfield/Palouse 34

Playing at Palouse last Friday, Pomeroy picked up a league win over the Vikings. Madison Dixon led Pomeroy (6-2, 4-1) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Carmen Gingerich added eight points.

Katie Arrasmith scored eight points for Gar/Pal and Payson Griner had 12.
