Susan Doney
Susan Anne Doney, 62, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at Whitman Hospital in Colfax. She was a longtime resident of Endicott and is survived by many friends and family. There will be no services. Bruning Funeral Home is caring for the family.
James B. Bolyard
James B. Bolyard of Warden died Jan. 13, 2017, at his home at the age of 83 from acute leukemia.
Born in Garfield Sept. 7, 1933, to James L. and Gaie Trimble Bolyard, he grew up in the Columbia Basin area and graduated from Coulee City High School in 1952. He took a job building the new high school in Garfield where he met Karen Johnston.
He was drafted into the Army and served in Korea with the 6th Infantry Division. He returned to Whitman County to work for his cousin Gene Marple who was a spray pilot, and he learned and loved to fly.
He married Karen Johnston Nov. 17, 1956, in Spokane. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just before Thanksgiving last year.
During the early years of their marriage, the family lived in Ephrata, Odessa and Coulee City. He worked for Boeing as a member of the crash crew in Moses Lake.
They then moved back to Whitman County where he worked for J.E. Love Co., Oakesdale Implement, Arrow Machinery, Alan Wride, Ed-Ka Manufacturing and the City of Garfield.
During the 1980s he was lead guitarist for the four-piece country western band The Sun Downers, later called the Silver Creek Band.
They moved to Lind where he worked for T-16 Ranch until he retired. He then became a rural route carrier for the Columbia Basin Herald where he carried papers for 19 years up to the time of his illness.
He enjoyed fishing the St. Joe River and Dworshak Reservoir in Idaho and lakes in the Pot Holes area.
Surviving are his wife, Karen, and five children: Ken (Sarah) Bolyard, Vanessa (Richard) Gimlin, Teresa Bolyard, Scott (Carmen) Bolyard and Steve (Nannette) Bolyard; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will celebrate his life at a gathering later in the year when the weather permits better travel. Assured Hospice of Moses Lake and Kayser's Chapel and Crematory are assisting the family.
Ruth Rosenberry
A memorial service for Ruth Rosenberry, 89, long-time resident of Tensed, Idaho, will be Sunday, Jan. 22, at 12:30 p.m. at the Tensed Community Church in Tensed with Pastor Tom Owens officiating. Mrs. Rosenberry died Jan. 8, 2017, at her home in Tensed.
Born May 4, 1927, at Long Beach, Calif., to George and Frances (Groner) Dohrman, she grew up in Wyoming and then moved to the Seattle area where she finished high school. She and Bill Rosenberry were married Dec. 3, 1944, in Hayes, Kan. Her husband and father operated sawmills in Packwood and Morton. They moved to Idaho in 1947. They lived at the mill site south of Tensed. In 1950, they moved the mill north of Tensed on the Old Creek Road. When the sawmill burned down, Bill and Ruth moved to Sanders Road in 1971 and lived there for the next 30 years. Ruth was a homemaker, and Bill worked as a logger. In 2001, the couple moved into Tensed where Ruth has lived since.
A member of the Tensed Community Church, she taught Sunday School and taught arts and crafts for Vacation Bible School for many years. She enjoyed traveling and collecting rocks and making jewelry. She was a portrait painter and a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009.
Survivors include three daughters, Lawayne Meckel of Tensed; Wanda Gates of Chugiak, Alaska, and Nita Dean of Spokane; two sisters, Juanita Dalrymple of Seattle and Phyllis Zigalla of Puyallup; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Tensed Community Church. Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa is handling the arrangements.
Alice Ida Wolf
Funeral services for Alice Wolf, 101, will be Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Latah Country Bible Church in Latah. Pastor Mark Mewhinney will officiate. Burial will be at the Latah City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wolf died Jan. 7 at Hospice of Spokane Hospice House South in Spokane.
Born Feb. 24, 1915, in Marion County, Kan., to Theo and Anna Nuss Skibbe, she was the seventh of nine siblings in her family. She attended schools in Marion County and graduated from Wellington High School in 1933. During World War II, she worked for Northrup Aircraft in California as a riveter in a wing assembly plant for four years. While in California, she met Laurel Wolf who was a trainer for the Army Air Corps. She married Laurel Dec. 24, 1945, in Latah where they later moved to farm and lived for several years.
In 1994, they retired and moved to Spokane Valley.
She was a member of the Latah Country Bible Church and taught Sunday school there. Alice enjoyed gardening, baking, camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband. They did not have children.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
