St. Boniface opts out of National School Choice Week

With National School Choice Week activities underway around the state and country, Guardian Angel St. Boniface School in Colton has opted out this year.

Citing weather and next week's Catholic Schools Week activities, Principal Lori Becker said they decided to hold off.

“With everything going on, we decided, 'let's just be normal for a week,'” she said.

In previous years during National School Choice week, St. Boniface students have been seen wearing the yellow scarves sent by the national organization which puts on the event.

National School Choice Week 2017 began Monday, beginning a total of 259 events planned in Washington to raise awareness about K-12 school choice, and 21,392 events nationwide.

The events in Washington – independently planned and funded – include information sessions and open houses at schools, rallies, policy discussions and movie screenings organized by community groups.

The week provides families in Washington with the opportunity to research and evaluate the K-12 school choices available for their children in advance of the 2017-18 school year.
