Sausage is in March, chocolate is in February.
Uniontown businesses are putting on the first Uniontown Chocolate Walk Saturday, Feb. 4, with locations across town giving out chocolate items from 11 a.m to 3 p.m.
“We just decided we wanted to do something fun and get people to go out of their houses in this winter weather and to Uniontown and our little shops,” said Julie Hartwig, curator for the Dahmen Barn. “And chocolate makes you feel better.”
The event will start on the south end of town at Splendid Old Stuff and conclude at Dahmen Barn, at the north end, with businesses along the way participating.
Gift bags will be available at each business to keep chocolate for later. A special heart-shaped sticker will mark free and discounted items in the antique stores and at The Shop at the Barn. Wawawai Canyon Winery will offer chocolate with a glass of wine, and patrons at the Daily Sage Bakery will receive a free espresso brownie or lemon bar with their order. At Artisans at the Dahmen Barn, artists will be on hand at the Hay Loft Gallery showing their work from the current “Plein Air” paintings exhibit of regional scenery, along with wooden bowls and steampunk lamps.
Additional participating businesses in the Chocolate Walk include Robyn’s Nest Antiques and Community Market (antiques and second-hand store).
”It’ll be a fun event,” said Hartwig. ”Everything will be chocolate.”
