The Pirates are saying, “Bring me that horizon” as they pull away from their Southeast 1B rivals with a 10-0 league record.
With four league games to play, Waitsburg holds second at 7-3 followed by Prescott (6-3), Garfield/Palouse (6-4) and Colton (6-4).
Garfield/Palouse will play Pomeroy next on the road Friday. In other key games this weekend, Colton plays at Waitsburg Saturday and Prescott goes to Gar/Pal.

Colton beat them by 23 earlier this month. This time Grangeville (5-7) won by 29.
Playing on the road Tuesday night, the Wildcats got out-rebounded 44-22 and only scored in double digits in one quarter. Matt Wolf led Colton with seven points while Peter Schultheis scored six.
Oakesdale 72
Prescott 49
The Nighthawks upset the third-place Tigers at home Jan. 21 as Kieron Anderson led with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Cal Gregory added 19 points and nine rebounds.
Oakesdale played even with Prescott for the first half, before a 46-point Nighthawks surge made for a rout. Travis Crockett led Prescott with 27 points and nine rebounds. Jose Gonzales added 11 points.
Colton 46

Peter Schultheis scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats in a league win at home Jan. 21. Matt Wolf added 10 points while Grant Kinzer had six points and nine rebounds. Brady Chadwick had nine points and four assists.

Cooper Lundberg led the Eagles with 12 points in a home loss to Pomeroy Jan. 21.
The Southeast 1B league first-place Pirates were led by Devon Caruso's and Jace Gwinn's 13 points each. Oscar Morfin added 12 while Ryan Wolf had 11.

A 24-13 run by the Vikings put the game in their win column Friday, Jan. 20 at Garfield.
Mason Bates led Gar/Pal with 17 points while Daniel Orfe had 16 points and Ely Hawkins posted 15.
Cal Gregory had 19 points for Oakesdale. Evan Henning scored 11 and Austin Rutledge and Kieron Anderson both had eight.
Pomeroy 66
Colton 50
The Pirates took another rung of control over the Southeast 1B league with their second win over Colton.
The Pirates led by 12 at halftime, after outscoring Colton 25-12 in the second quarter. In the third, the Wildcats came back with a 22-13 run before being held to four points in the fourth quarter.
Ryan Wolf and Oscar Morfin led Pomeroy with 17 points. Grant Kinzer was high-scorer for Colton, also with 17 points. Matt Wolf had 11.
Oakesdale 44, Garfield/Palouse 28
Katie Arrasmith led all scorers with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a Vikings' loss at Garfield Jan. 20. Oakesdale held Gar/Pal to one point in the fourth quarter on their way to victory.
Jacey Johnson led the Nighthawks with 11 points while Logan Reed had 10. Anne Hockett and Lindsey Lingren both scored seven.
