Wrestlers take fourth at Kittitas

Colfax and Garfield/Palouse wrestlers placed fourth in the Koyote Classic meet Saturday at Kittitas with 77 points. Selah topped the 17-team meet with 172 points, and host Kittitas placed second at 155.5.

Travis Knauff of Garfield/Palouse won the 145-pound class. Knauff rolled up a string of three pins and stopped Tommy Ott of Kittitas in the last 12 seconds of the championship match.

Placing second were Chris Jones in the 138 class and Augie Allenbach in the 220 class.

Dane Hall finished fourth in the 152 class after losing by two points to Jami Pimentel of Selkirk in the consolation final. Hall had posted a two-point win over the Selkirk wrestler in his first match of the day.

Nolan Burrill at 106 and Garrett Phillips at 113 also competed.

In the tourney's B division, Nate Barney finished third at 138 and Ben Ahmann finished third at 145.

Other NE league teams placing at Kittitas were Wilbur/Creston with 53.5 points for eighth and Lind/Ritzville/Sprague with four points for 17th.

113-Phillips bye, pinned Cooper Lanning-Ellensberg 1:53, pinned by Joey Moen-Cle Elum 1:20, pinned by Jose Mata-Selkirk 2:13.

138-Jones bye, pinned Chance Ergeson-Selkirk 1:13, over Josh Say-Cle Elum 13-8, to Tony Nichols-Lake Roosevelt 1-9 in title match.

145-Knauff bye, pinned Casey Oxford-Napavine 2:49, pinned Jackson Yates-Selkirk in semi-final 1:54, pinned Ott-Kittitas 5:48 for championship.

152-Hall bye, over Jami Pimentel-Selkirk 10-7, to Nick Fordham-Cle Elum 1-3, pinned Juan Silva-Wahluke 4:40, to Pimentel-Selkirk 6-8 in consolation final for fourth place.

220-Allenbach bye, bye, pinned Max Hochrein-Riverside Christian 1:55, pinned by Amadeo Pimetel-Selkirk 1:40 in championship match for second place.

B DIVISION

138-Barney bye, bye, pinned by Ray Strozyk-Wilbur/Creston 5:22, pinned Patrick Rueff-Almira/Coulee/Hartline :24, over Daniel Hull of Riverside Christian on injury default for third place.

145-Ahmann bye, pinned by Alex Whitman-Kittitas 1:58, bye over Juan Garcia-Ellenberg on injury default, pinned Dylan Lane Kittitas :55 for third place.
