Saturday night in Oakesdale is a Southeast 1B league girls showdown unseen in these parts for many years.
Colton, the eight-time defending state 1B girls champions, lost at home for the first time since 2010 when Oakesdale beat them Jan. 13.
This week, the Nighthawks beat Pomeroy to set up a rematch between Colton-Oakesdale to decide the league championship.
Both teams are 11-1 in league, with Colton's one loss to the Nighthawks, and Oakesdale's one loss to Pomeroy. Before Saturday's showcase, the Nighthawks play at St. John/Endicott Friday while Colton hosts Garfield/Palouse.

Waitsburg 19
The Wildcats dismissed Waitsburg on the road Jan. 28 to build their record to 16-2.
After a 17-9 first quarter lead, Colton held the Cardinals to three baskets the rest of the game.
Dakota Patchen led Colton with 22 points while Meghan Devorak scored 15 points. Abby Kelly added 12 points and five rebounds. Kendyl Druffel had six points with six assists and Georgia Meyer six points and six rebounds. Devon Harshman led Waitsburg with 12 points.

Pomeroy 40
In a key Southeast 1B league matchup between two of the three teams tied for first in league, at Oakesdale Jan. 28, the Nighthawks evened the score with Pomeroy. Jacey Johnson led the Nighthawks with 21 points and 12 rebounds while Anne Hockett added 12 points and Logan Reed 11. The win negated Oakesdale's 47-35 loss to the Pirates Jan. 7.

Prescott 24
A monster night by Payson Griner and Katie Arrasmith led the Vikings over winless Prescott at Garfield Jan. 28. Scoring 32 points, Griner added 15 rebounds and five steals while Katie Arrasmith delivered 23 points and 14 rebounds and six steals. Anahi Martin led Prescott with six points.

The Wildcats beat the Eagles Jan. 27, starting out with a 61-point first half. Colton got points from eight players in the half, and all 10 names on the roster scored before it was over.
The Wildcats' Dakota Patchen led with 25 points, and Jordyn Moehrle and Meghan Devorak added 12 points each. Kendyl Druffel scored eight points with eight assists while Devorak and Abby Kelly each got seven rebounds. The game was part of Colton's first “Coaches vs. Cancer” night in which $1,500 was raised for Spokane's Community Cancer Fund.

Logan Reed led with 17 points and seven rebounds as Oakesdale won at Touchet. Katie Skramstad scored 10 points, and Hannah Krom added nine rebounds for Touchet.

Alynn Harder had seven points and seven rebounds to lead the Eagles in a home loss as Riley Lamb added seven points. Paytyn Richardtz scored 14 points to lead Touchet followed by Dana Jagger with 12.

Katie Arrasmith led the Vikings with 15 points while Payson Griner had eight in a loss at Pomeroy.
Senior Kacey Halbert led the Pirates with 16 points and 10 rebounds on the Pirates' senior night.
