Clearing the smoke

Colfax firefighters responded to the scene of an apartment fire at the Riverview Apartments in Colfax Tuesday afternoon. Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered an apartment filling with smoke after a resident, who was not home, had left a burner on. A dog was in the apartment. Colfax Police Officer Perry Tate assisted at the scene by removing the dog from the apartment. Fire Chief Steven Thime said there was enough smoke in the apartment that the dog would have succumbed to the smoke had they not responded....
