Palouse Brewfest draws big crowd

The fifth Palouse Cabin Fever Brewfest brought in 590 people, another sell-out. Big Barn Brewing of Mead won this year's title for “Best Cure for Cabin Fever.”

The fifth annual Palouse Cabin Fever Brewfest went off at the Palouse Community Center Feb. 11 with only 10 no-shows of a sold-out 590 tickets.

“It couldn't have been any better,” said volunteer Ben Barstow. “We have a good time doing it, and the people have a good time coming to it.”

The benefit for the community center brought in 10 brewers, vying for the award for “Best Cure for Cabin Fever.”

This year's winner was Peone Wheat from Big Barn Brewing in Mead north of Spokane.

Total funds raised have not been calculated for the event which has brought in $18,000 for the community center over its first four years.
