KATHY ANN LARSON

Kathy Ann Larson, 51, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at the Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, following a short, hard battle with cancer. A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at the Sanders Community Church in Sanders, Idaho.

Born April 20, 1965, in Lynn, Mass., to Richard Thomas and Marie Melancon Karpinski, she attended schools in Massachusetts and New Hampshire through high school. Kathy married Larry Michael Larson, and they had made their home in southern Idaho and in the DeSmet, Idaho, area. Mr. Larson died in 2006, and she moved to Hayden, Idaho, in 2016.

Survivors include her four children, Jesse Karpinski, Jenna Karpinski, Brook Larson, and Brittney Larson; her mother and stepfather, Malcolm and Marie Campbell of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; her siblings, Debbie Santiago, Tina Karpinski and Tim Karpinski.

She was recently baptized at the Heart of the City Church in Coeur d’Alene.

WANA SMITH

The funeral services for Wana Smith, 82, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Sanders Community Church in Sanders, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Sanders Cemetery. She died Jan. 30, 2017, at the Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene.

Born at Rio Grande City, Texas, Nov. 8, 1934, her mother, Marie Aceves was a member of the Apache Tribe in Texas. Wana worked in the farm fields in Texas as a young child and had no formal schooling.

She married Archie Harrison Smith May 26, 1952, and they settled in the Sanders, Idaho, area in 1960. She was a member of the Catholic Church, grew a large garden and raised cattle and chickens. Wana also was a caregiver to several people over the years.

Survivors include two children, Evelyn Rohn of Potlatch, Idaho, and Harry Smith of Tensed, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie, in 1989, and a son, Archie Smith Jr., in 2015.
