Colfax FCCLA duos win gold medals

Colfax High School sophomores Bryan Rubin and Brooklyn Smith won gold medals in the “advocacy” category at the FCCLA Region Nine competition at Colfax Jan. 20. They created a food drive and pantry for low-income high school students. Rubin and Smith will compete at state March 8-10 in Kennewick, along with classmates Rylee Griffiths and Kylie Kackman, who took gold at districts in “food innovation.”

The local winners were guided by Colfax FCCLA advisor Altaira Bogle, who teaches family and consumer science classes at the school.
