Library closure
All 14 branches of Whitman County Library will close Feb. 19-20 in honor of Presidents Day. Due dates for library materials have been extended in anticipation of the closure and no late fines will be charged for these days. Drop boxes will remain open at all locations for returned items.
RTOP opens 'Forum' run
“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” begins its two-week run at Regional Theatre of the Palouse tonight. It is directed by John Rich, founder and executive director of RTOP. Rachael Wilkinson and Alyssa Dalbeck serve as co-musical directors. Choreography is by Lindsay Shigetomi, and set design by Jett Bingman. Costume design was done by Denice Jewell.
Performance dates are Feb. 16 through Feb. 19, and Feb. 22 through Feb. 26. Curtain time for evening performances is 7:30. Saturdays will include a 1:30 matinees and the 7:30 evening performance, and Sundays will have just the 1:30 matinees.

St. Patrick's
dinner on
Dahmen agenda
Dahmen Barn will offer a culinary arts class March 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. with WSU executive chef Jamie Callison showing how to brine a brisket for St. Patrick's Day dinner. Participants will prepare a honey-three mustard crusted house-brined corned beef, cabbage cooked with carmelized onions, bacon and herbs, butter basted new potatoes and Irish soda bread, all paired with local beers.
Students with any level of cooking skill can attend and enjoy the meal at the end of the session. The class fee is $45. Registrations must be received by Thursday, Feb. 23.

Thrifty Grandmothers
Colfax Thrifty Grandmothers met in the basement of the Colfax library for their February meeting. Nineteen members answered roll call. Helena Johnson gave a presentation about the Robotics competition which involves high school members based out of Pullman. Several schools are involved.
They have gone to St. Louis, two years in a row, for the world championships.
Christina Thompson became a new member.
Business conducted included the following donations: $50 gift cards from the Grandmother’s Shop to the six families involved in the apartment fire, Robotics Club $1000; Colfax Chamber of Commerce membership $85; Public Health Safe Sleep Campaign $500; Baby Sitting Certification Class, sponsored by the library, $500.
A silent auction will be Feb. 25 for a woman who has been battling cancer. The group voted to donate $500 plus a $50 gift card from the store and also give an item for the auction.
Election of officers followed. They are Bonnie Smith, president; Joyce Colvin, vice president; Dianne Appel, secretary; and Leslie Largent, treasurer.

Nineteen members of Chapter AF met Monday with Teri Heilsberg hostess and Arlene Hatley co-hostess. Roll call response was listing Valentine plans.
Dana Carroll reported on the Valentine tea, the group's annual fundraising event.
The bylaws committee of Mae Schultz and Sherry Cox read the bylaws for the chapter.
Next meeting will be Feb. 27 at Peace Lutheran Church.

Pullman League of Women Voters' February Brown Bag lunch will feature Audra Sims, superintendent for Washington State Parks, SE District, who will discuss the upcoming comprehensive planning for state parks and other SE park issues today, Feb. 16, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Community Congregational Church, 525 SE Campus Street.
