Moscow Farmers Market seeks out poster artists

The City of Moscow is seeking poster art for the 2017 Moscow Farmers Market and has put out a call for local artists to submit designs.

The call is open to any age group, but entrants are required to reside within a 200 air mile radius of Moscow.

Entries are due to the city and Farmers Market Commission by Monday, April 3, at 5 p.m. Only one entry per person is allowed. Entrants are asked to include several items in a poster design, including the text 'Moscow Farmers Market' (without an apostrophe in Farmers), 'May through October 2017,' 'Every Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.,' 'Downtown on Main Street and Friendship Square,' 'Fresh produce, plants & flowers, handmade crafts, local food' and 'Live music 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.' Artists are also asked to include fresh fruits and/or vegetables and/or the social culture of the market in the design.

Artists should submit original work, and artists must also own any pictures or graphics used in the design. Submittals will be accepted as drawings, paintings, mixed media, photography, crayon, market or original graphic art. The finished poster size is 11x17 inches.

A panel jury will select the finalists, and entries will be made available for voting.

Winning entrant will be asked to sign the posters on the opening day of the market, Saturday, May 6.
