Colfax girls advanced to the Wednesday's semi-final round of the NE tournament at West Valley Feb. 9 with a 56-20 crunch over Wilbur/Creston in the second round of the district playoff.
The win put Colfax up against the St. George's team which topped them 46-36 when the two teams collided here in the lone matchup during the league season.
St. George's advanced to the Wednesday semi-round with a 59-26 win over Reardan in the second round Feb. 9.
Paired up in the other semi-final game Wednesday were Davenport, a 41-35 winner over Lind/Ritzville/Sprague, and Liberty, a 75-27 winner of Tekoa/Rosalia in the second round.
Winners of Wednesday's semi games will collide in the title game Saturday with the top state berth going to the winner and the second berth going to the loser.
Losers of the Wednesday games will be in elimination games tonight, with the survivors to play for the third and last state ticket Saturday afternoon.
Colfax Feb. 9 rolled up a 34-13 lead over Wilbur/Creston in the second round game at West Valley.
Coach Corey Baerlocher sat all starters on the bench in the last quarter after the Bulldogs overpowered the Wildcats.
Carmen Gfeller led Colfax with 17 points, all in the first half.
The Bulldogs pegged the big win after attacking the WC zone defense, forcing them to go into another mode.
