Colfax student places second in Idaho bowling tournament

Colfax High School senior Doug Wilson, back row, fourth from left, this week competed with the Lewiston High School bowling team at the state championship in Burley, Idaho, coming away individually at second place and first place overall as a team.

Wilson has been bowling with the Pullman Youth League since second grade, his mom, Karen Wilson, said. When he started participating with a youth league in Lewiston recently, the high school team there saw him and asked him to join their team. The LHS team also consists of students from Lewiston, Clarkston, Asotin, Moscow and Orofino. Wilson has traveled to Lewiston three times per week for his participation, which is an approved sport for the Colfax district.

At the state championship tournament Monday, Wilson was required to compete under the Colfax district, which ended up pitting him against his teammates. Wilson took second by one pin at 161 to teammate Robbie Lashly from Orofino at 162. The team overall took first place, defeating Borah High School from Boise.
