NOTICE OF A DETERMINATION OF NONSIGNIFICANCE (DNS) AND AN

ADMINISTRATIVE USE PERMIT

Whitman County Planning issued a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) under the State Environmental Policy Act Rules (Chapter 197-11 WAC) for the following project:

Whitman County Emergency Management proposes the construction of an emergency communications radio site including an 80’ antenna pole and a 10’ by 20’ radio equipment shelter. The site is owned by Thomas and Peggy Henning in the Agricultural District and is located southeast of Malden, WA, just outside city limits, in Section 13, Township 20 N., Range 42 E., W.M., Whitman County, Washington.

After review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with us, the Planning Office has determined that this proposal will not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment.

An administrative use permit is being issued by the County Planner for this project. County code allows for an administrative review if waivers are obtained from any residence in the county within 1,500 feet or from any residence inside the town of Malden within 300 feet of the antenna support structure. There are no residences within these distances.

Copies of the DNS are available at no charge from the County Planning Office, Whitman County Public Service Building (2nd Floor), N. 310 Main St., Colfax, WA 99111. Interested persons may submit environmentally-focused written comments on the SEPA decision by 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 30, 2017 to the County Planning Office, P.O. Box 430, Colfax, WA 99111-0430, fax: (509) 397-6210.
