Food for fines donations

Whitman County Library and area food pantries report 114 residents donated $800 in non-perishable food and toiletry items to the library's annual Food for Fines drive. Donations came in throughout Whitman County. Almost a quarter of the donations were not attached to the waiving of library fines. The Food for Fines drive is conducted each February when area pantries report more people struggling with high heat bills and difficulty feeding families.
