Serving Whitman County since 1877
The 28th National Lentil Festival at Pullman received six awards at the 2017 Washington Festivals and Events Association conference in Olympia March 14.
The festival received gold awards for best programming, public relations/media campaign and T-shirt design. The programming award acknowledged the many community partnerships in Pullman and the Palouse region, including partnerships with such non-profits as the Whitman County Humane Society, Pullman Rotary, Kiwanis Club of Pullman, the YMCA of the Palouse and many more.
Other awards included a silver in best promotional item, the famous lentil chili recipe bookmark; a bronze for best printed material, the 2016 commemorative poster designed by Kurt Snyder, and another bronze for best multimedia, the Palouse Brand Snapchat geo-filters.
“These awards are because of the incredible community that supports the National Lentil Festival,” said Britnee Packwood, festival director. “None of this would be possible without the support of our city, Washington State University and so many other individuals and organizations in our community.”
