Colfax girls track tallies 94, wins Deer Park meet

Colfax girls Friday rolled up a total of 94 points to top 18 other teams in the invitational meet at Deer Park. The Bulldogs posted a 10-point win margin over second-place Liberty which finished with 84 points.

Colfax boys placed fifth with 51.8 points behind the 74.5 win posted by Northwest Christian.

Colfax girls booked wins in the 4x100 and 4x200 relay events with Kaitlyn Cornish, Taylre Sakamoto-Howell, Sara Whelchel and Alexie Smith clocking 54.03, a win by six-tenths of a second over Lind/Ritzville/Sprague in the short relay.

Sarah Kraut, Smith, Sakamoto-Howell and Piper Cai won the 4x200 at 1:54.9.

Cai won the pole vault at 9-0, and placed second in the high jump at 5-2. Smith placed second in the javelin at 99-10.

Colfax boys won the 4x400 relay with Ben Ahmann, Riley Griffiths, Matthew Neu and Caleb Brown running laps. Ben Ahmann also placed second in the 300 hurdles, and Griffiths placed third in the 800.

St. John/Endicott girls placed 14th with 22 points, and the Eagle boys placed 13th with 27.5 points.

Jadyn Corder topped the SJE entry with a win in the discus on a 107-7 sling. She edged Kallie Harder of LRS by four inches.

Corder was second in the shotput at 32-1 behind the 33-10 posted by Tori Kindred of Oroville.

Track action will return to Colfax Tuesday with a league meet slated to start at 3:30 p.m. Oakesdale will be the official host.
