A public comment period for proposed street work in Oakesdale has led to a change in curbing on the southeast side of First Street.
The curb will be an edgeless rolled sidewalk to make it easier for cars and parking maneuverability.
Bids are due April 13 at 3 p.m. for work to start right after school gets out.
The public comment period closed Feb. 24 for input on a permit application for work at Pearl Street, McCoy Street and First Street.
The work would include reconstruction of sections of the three streets near Oakesdale schools, reducing the grade of the Second Street hill and widening the loading and unloading area for buses.
In addition, other changes would include relocating and lowering water and sewer mains, sidewalks, constructing retaining walls and a storm water system.
The estimated work would affect Pearl Street from Second Street to First Street; First Street from Pearl Street to McCoy Street and McCoy Street from First Street to Second Street.
Oakesdale received a $930,400 Transportation Improvement Board grant in November of 2015.
Construction is set to begin right after school's dismisses for the summer.
The grant is expected to cover the total cost of the work.
