SEL donates to The Center project

Sara Olsen and McKenzie Brumet of Schweitzer Engineering present an $8,000 donation to Whitman County Library Director Kristie Kirkpatrick and Catalina Flores, branch services coordinator.

The donation will be used for the restroom project at the Bettie Steiger Community Enrichment Center.

It brings the library one step closer to reaching its goal of adding restrooms and completing a technology lab.

Currently, $21,500 has been raised toward this $60,000 phase of the project.

To date, $280,000 in renovations at The Center have finished the two main community rooms, infrastructure and a connecting vestibule to the library.

The Hamilton Drug building was donated to the library district in 2009, and all renovations have been funded by grants and donations, according to Kirkpatrick.
