Lawyers move into new office

City Attorney John Kragt reported to the city council April 17 that the Carpenter, McGuire & DeWulf law firm officially moved into its newly remodeled office on S. Main Monday. The building is the former long-time location of Glaser’s Jewelry. Its office, which totals 2,200 square feet, has undergone extensive remodeling over the winter months.

Based in Ritzville, the law firm moved its Colfax office from the Warwick Building at 206 N. Main. The office there was the previous location of the Libey, Ensley & Nelson law firm.

The Carpenter, McGuire & DeWulf firm also has offices in Davenport, Odessa, Fairfield, Rosalia and St. John.

Attorneys from the firm will staff the office four days a week. Matthew Johnson will be there on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Kragt will be there on Thursdays and the first and third Mondays of the month, and Rusty McGuire will be at the office on the second and fourth Mondays.

Office staffers include Sharon McKeirnan and Kathy Kroll with Ruth Holmes assisting part-time.

The telephone number for the firm is the 397-4345 number used by the former Libey, Ensley & Nelson firm. The firm disbanded after Gary Libey was elected superior court judge and Guy Nelson retired. Bruce Ensley remains on “of counsel” status with the new firm and also serves as attorney for the Port of Whitman. The law office plans an open house at its new location later this spring.
