The annual Rosalia High School Trot for Tots Walk-a-Thon will be tomorrow, Friday, April 28, at the high school. For the past three years, Jennifer Olson’s leadership class has planned and put on the Walk-a-Thon to benefit the March of Dimes.
Friday’s Trot for Tots Walk-a-Thon will include a dunk tank and an obstacle course, as well as a bean bag toss. The obstacle course will be a little different this year than in year’s past.
“The National Guard is letting us use it,” said Hannah Beach, a senior at RHS and ASB treasurer. “It’s a new obstacle course. It’s still an inflatable, just a little different design.”
Beach also said there are students and one teacher signed up to be dunked in the dunk tank, and anyone can come toss a ball to attempt to dunk those signed up.
Beach said the leadership class, which has about 15 students, has been sending sponsor letters to local businesses in Rosalia and surrounding communities, as well as to some businesses in Spokane in an effort to raise money. Additionally, everyone who will walk on Friday either paid $5 to do so or $10 to walk and earn a T-shirt. Another option for walking was to fill out a pledge sheet, with the walker receiving pledges per lap walked.
Beach said this year’s goal is to raise $2,300.
“We’re hoping to surpass our goal,” she said.
In each of the first three years of the event, Beach said the goal amount has been reached or surpassed.
“We’ve reached it all three years, and over those three years, we’ve donated $8,169.16 to the March of Dimes,” she said.
Trot for Tots will begin at 12:30 on Friday afternoon and conclude at 2:30. The community is invited to participate.
