Energy aid tour set for libraries

Whitman County Library and Community Action Center are partnering to bring energy assistance to local towns around Whitman County. The Low Income Energy Assistance Program offers a one-time payment to help qualified residents make their energy bills more affordable. The funding pays a portion of energy costs, but the payment is not intended to cover the yearly cost of a residence.

Programs have been scheduled at the following library branches: May 9 – Palouse, 1 to 3 p.m .; May 16 – Rosalia, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m .; May 23 – Tekoa, 1:30 to 3 p.m .; June 5 – LaCrosse, 1 to 3 p.m .; June 12 – Colton, 12 to 2 p.m.

Appointments can be made every Wednesday and Thursday at the Colfax Council on Aging.

To qualify, a family's annual income must meet the eligibility guidelines.
