Asotin, NWC teams top meet

Colfax’s Caleb Brown and Tekoa/Rosalia’s Garrett Knaught both cleared 6-0 with Brown taking the event because he did it on his first attempt. Below, Knaught makes an attempt at 6-2 for the Timberwolves.

Asotin girls Tuesday nudged Colfax by eight points to take the team championship in an all-NE meet which brought all NE teams to Colfax for the last meet of the season on the new track.

The Panther girls again stacked up points in the distance races and finished with 124 points. Colfax placed second with 116, and St. George's finished in third with 116 points.

The all-NE meet was in advance of the district qualifications set for next Tuesday at Ritzville.

Parker Warwick won both hurdle races for the Bulldogs, and Colfax girls won two of the three relay events.

Tekoa/Rosalia girls finished in 11th place with Emily Leighton posting a win in the shotput.

On the boys side, Northwest Christian took the league win with 122 points, a margin of 12 over number-two Asotin. Kettle Falls placed third with 94, and the Bulldogs placed fourth with 84. Caleb Brown won the high jump on a first attempt at 6-0, and Ben Ahmann won the 110 hurdle race and placed second in the 300 hurdles.

The Timberwolves placed 10th with 21 points with Garrett Naught in a battle at 6-0 in the high jump.
