Colfax softball crew will host one of four district playoff rounds Tuesday as the number-two finisher on the south side of the NE league. Davenport and Reardan will play in the first game at 3 p.m., and the Bulldogs will play that winner at 5 p.m.
Tekoa/Rosalia girls will play against Springdale in the opening round of the playoffs Monday at Ritzville. Winner of that first-round game will go up against the Broncos, the number-one finisher in the NE-south campaign.
The NE playoff grid will have a losers' round May 16 at Franklin Park in Spokane. Winners coming out of the May 9 round and survivors from the losers' eliminations May 16 will match up back at Franklin May 20 with four NE tickets to the state finals at Yakima on the line.
Colfax today will host Pullman in a non-leaguer at 6 p.m. which will also honor team seniors Cheyanne Stokes and Lindsey Lindgren.
The Bulldogs will host the Tuesday district round after sustaining two defeats at Colton Tuesday in non-league action.
Colton took the first game 10-7 and crunched Colfax 11-2 in the second game. The Wildcats rapped 11 hits off Colfax pitcher Abbie Miller in the first game, and Colton starter Emma Schultheis allowed 12 hits. She fanned seven Bulldogs and walked six.
Stokes hit 5-for-5 with three doubles and two singles for Colfax in the first game, and Maddy Shrope doubled and singled.
Emma and Emily Schultheis each had two hits for Colton.
Emily Schultheis threw a six-hitter against Colfax for the 11-1 win in the second game. The Wildcats tagged seven hits off Colfax pitchers Miller and Shrope.
Colfax sustained the two losses at Colton after sustaining an 11-0 shutout at the hands of Northwest Christian which traveled to Colfax last Thursday to make up the last half of a double bill which was rained out two days earlier at Colbert.
NWC's Mattea Nelson, who throttled Colfax in previous action Tuesday, allowed the Bulldog batters just one hit Thursday at McDonald Park.
Nelson struck out four Colfax batters and walked none while throwing the one hitter.
Stokes singled for the lone Colfax hit.
