Oakesdale's Nighthawk girls bumped Colfax by 17 points last Thursday to win a 13-team NE track meet hosted by St. George's on the track at Mead. Oakesdale girls finished with 122 points, and Colfax finished with 105. St. George's finished in a distant third with 71.5 points.
Colfax boys also finished in second place with 89.7 points, behind Northwest Christian. Ben Ahmann won the 110 hurdles for Colfax, and Caleb Brown cleared six feet to top the high jump field.
Anne Hockett led the 'hawks with wins in the 300 hurdles, 400 run and second in the 200 sprint. Madison Dingman won the 3200 run for Oakesdale.
Piper Cai won both the high jump and the pole vault for Colfax. The Colfax 4x100 relay team of Kaitlin Cornish, Parker Warwick, Josie Riebold and Alexie Smith also took a win, and Warwick placed second in the 100 hurdles.
Oakesdale girls also placed second in the big Undeberg Invitational Saturday at Ritzville with 65 points behind the 96-point win posted by Royal City in a meet which brought 22 teams. Colfax was a point back of the Nighthawks for third place.
Freshman Elizabeth Perry placed second in the 800 for the 'hawks, and Dingman placed fifth in the 3200. Hockett placed third in the 200 and again battled Warwick of Colfax in the hurdle events.
Warwick was fourth in the 100, and Hockett fifth behind the 15.75 win posted by Maggie Delay of Royal. In the 300, Warwick was second at 47.65 behind the 46.43 win by Lillian Kirry of Chewelah. Hockett placed third, .01 back of Warwick.
Colfax's 4x100 team won at 52.43 with Kaitlin Cornish, Warwick, Josie Riebold and Alexie Smith. The Bulldogs' 4x200 team placed second at 1:51.51 behind the 1:49.94 win posted by Royal.
Colfax boys placed seventh with 41 points with Ahmann placing third in both hurdle events, and Brown, one of three jumpers to clear 6-0, placing third via the attempt chart.
