Colton beats ACH, makes state bracket

Opening the District 7/9 1B baseball tournament at Colbert Tuesday night, Colton shutout Almira/ Coulee/Hartline 8-0. Led by senior pitcher Brady Chadwick, the Wildcats secured their eighth consecutive trip to the state tournament.

With its fifth shutout of the season, Colton will now play Southeast 1B league nemesis Pomeroy (14-5) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday back in Colbert to decide the district title and state seeding.

Against ACH Tuesday, Chadwick struck out 16 batters, allowing one walk and two hits. At the plate for Colton, Cameron Bean went 3-for-3 with three RBIs while Peter Schultheis went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

The eight-team state tournament will begin May 20, in which Colton will seek its fourth state 1B championship in six years.
