Gar/Pal baseball eliminated

Senior Mason Bates concluded his Gar/Pal athletic career on a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs and a game-tying home run in the sixth inning to help push the Vikings into extra innings Tuesday night against Cusick. In the end, Gar/Pal lost 8-7, ending its season.

Playing in the District 7/9 baseball tournament at Colbert, the team trailed by five runs before the rally. In the eighth, with a tying Garfield/Palouse baserunner on second base and a go-ahead runner on first, it ended on a groundout to Cusick's shortstop.

Earlier in the eighth, the Vikings had closed within a run on a sacrifice fly.
