Oakesdale dominates

Oakesdale girls dominated the 1B district track qualifier at Riverside Tuesday with 133.5 points. They posted a 50-point edge over number-two Pomeroy in the 15-team meet.

LaCrosse/Washtucna placed seventh with 40 points, and St. John/Endicott girls placed 11th with 30.5 points.

On the boys side, the Eagles placed seventh behind the 130 win posted by Odessa/Harrington; Oakesdale placed 10th with 18, and LWK placed 13th.

Top eight finishers in the lane events and the top 12 in distance races and field events advanced to the next qualifying round.

Anne Hockett of Oakesdale placed second in the 200 and 400 and won both hurdle events.

The Panthers also won the 4x400 relay with Logan Reed, Elisabeth Perry, Emma Perry and Amber Jones, and the 4x200 with Reed, Lauryn Rawls, Elisabeth Perry and Jones.

Jadyn Corder of SJE won the discus and placed third in the shotput. Alynn Harder of LWK won the javelin with Aliya Rutledge of Oakesdale in second place.

On the boys side, Matt Hockett of Oakesdale placed third in the 400 and third in the javelin ahead of Stephen Campbell of LWK.

Cooper Lundberg of the Eagles placed second in the high jump at 5-10, and Griffin Parrish placed third a 5-8. Parrish was also third in the long jump, and Lundberg was third in the triple.
