The City of Palouse has granted four permits for new houses in the past six weeks with another expected to be issued after a zoning variance is decided by the city's board of adjustment.
The permits are for two houses in the Palouse Cove subdivision and two at the north end of the city. The pending permit is also at the north end. Four of the houses would be built on lots that were previously part of larger lots.
Palouse Mayor Michael Echanove said the run of permits is unusual.
“Everyone's working hard to provide a warm and fun, inviting environment in Palouse. I would like to think that's paying off.”
