Liberty Bell will be the opponent for Colfax in the first round of regional playoffs Saturday at Ferris High School in Spokane. Liberty Bell qualified for the playoffs as the number-two team out of a playoff round between contenders from WIAA Districts 5 and 6.
Colfax enters the regional round after posting wins over Kettle Falls and Asotin in the last round of the NE district playoff at Ritzville.
Northwest Christian and Brewster will also play in the first round Saturday at Ferris, and the winners of the first two games will play for one of the four tickets to the state finals the following weekend at Centralia. Brewster was the top finisher out of the playoffs between District 5 and 6 finalists.
Northwest Christian faces Brewster as the third-place finisher from the NE. Asotin, number-two team in the NE, will play Kittitas at Davis High in Yakima, and Kettle Falls, number-four in the NE, will face Adna or Wahkiakum at Anacortes.
Colfax and Northwest Christian played in a pickup game Wednesday at Colbert. Coaches agreed to play the games to keep the teams in tune during the long break in the playoff rounds. The two NE teams could face off again Saturday at Ferris for the last ticket to the state finals if they win their first games in the regional match up.
