The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport Runway Realignment Project just got a boost in the form of a grant from the Department of Transportation.
Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers announced last week that the airport was approved for a $15 million grant from the DOT for 2017 construction and reimbursement for the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the airport. McMorris Rodgers released a statement once the grant was awarded.
“The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport Runway Realignment Project will play an important role in modernizing eastern Washington's infrastructure,” she said.
“It will help connect those in our community with the rest of the world and encourage economic growth in the region.
This grant is a huge win for everyone on the Palouse, and I look forward to seeing this project finished so the airport can continue to benefit our community for decades to come.” The airport project is about to get its 2017 phase underway.
Crews from M.A. DeAtley out of Clarkston are currently working to finish up the 2016 phase that could not be completed before winter weather set in.
Airport Administrator Tony Bean said the 2017 phase, which was also awarded to M.A. DeAtley, will be underway as soon as federal funding arrives.
