Alan D. Arnold, 63, longtime resident of Tekoa, died at his home Friday, May 19, 2017, from natural causes.
A graveside service for will be at noon Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa.
Born Oct. 14, 1953, in Spokane, to Richard and Lila Arnold, he was raised in Colbert and graduated from Mead High School in 1972. During his school years, Alan was a Boy Scout and later earned the Eagle Scout badge. He spent most of his career working on school buses as a diesel mechanic for the Mead School District. He moved to Tekoa in 1985 and established what he called the “Arnold Homestead.”
He enjoyed military history, reading and writing poetry, doing various research and writing. He also had a vast and diverse collection of films ranging from blockbuster hits to independent documentaries. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and particularly enjoyed spending as much time as he could on the Snake River.
Surviving are his sons Tim (Darcy) Arnold and Tyler (Natasha Usai) Arnold of Spokane and grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tekoa Museum or to benefit the John Wayne Trail Project.
A graveside service and inurnment for Dorothy Morasch Webb Stoehr, 88, will be at 2:30 p.m., June 9, 2017, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan., with U.S. Navy military honors. A native of Endicott who resided in Gardner, Kan., she died May 24, 2017.
Born in Endicott, Aug. 5, 1928, to John and Katherine Bafus Morasch, she graduated from Endicott High School, and served in the U.S. Navy as radioman from 1951 until 1955. She worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Kansas City, Mo., for 26 years until her retirement in 1988.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Robert Eugene Stoehr; daughters, Kathryn, Lisa, and Sherry Webb; stepchildren, Robert M. (Linda) Stoehr, Timothy (Gina) Stoehr, and Lisa (Rob) Lacy; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and siblings, Betty (Robert) Rudy, Delores (Robert) Jones, Shirley (Ronald) Graves, and Daniel (Mitra) Morasch.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Steven Stoehr, and stepdaughter, Deborah Stoehr.
The family suggests memorial contributions go to the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, 631 D Street, Lincoln, NE 68502-1149.
Bruce Funeral Home of Gardner, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.
Neal James Schmidt, 73, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at his Thornton home. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax.
