Colfax Computer moves to former pawn shop

Making a Main Street move, the Colfax Computer store has moved from its previous location on the corner of Main and Wall streets to 212 S. Main Street, right in between the Council on Aging and Palouse Hills Computing. The building is the former site of the Colfax pawn shop, and the move began June 1.

“We have vacated the old premise, and we are open for business,” said Jim Kusznir, business owner. “We've got a few things we're still working on, but we're open.”

Kusznir acquired Colfax Computer from Shawn Burt in December when he purchased the business. Burt made the decision to sell the business so that he could go on board full time with a firm out of Long Island, N.Y., for which he had been working remotely.

The Colfax Computer move comes with a new service, which will be phone services. Kusznir will offer phone services under the name of Colfax Phone.

“It'll be a landline phone service through the internet,” he said. “It uses the existing internet connection, and I'm working with Colfax Cable on that.”

Kusznir said there are already a number of businesses as well as a couple of residences utilizing the new service. Kusznir is also offering a special on the service to anyone who mentions the phone service between now and June 23, when a grand opening will be hosted for Colfax Computer. The special will also apply on the grand opening dates of June 23 and 24.

“I'll give a special free activation to anyone coming over to me from CenturyLink,” said Kusznir. “It's $15 for activation normally.”

Cost for monthly services will be $25 per month for residential lines compared to $49 per month with CenturyLink. It will cost $35 per month for business lines.

The grand opening will be marked on Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24, with hourly drawings, free slushies and a grand prize drawing. One of the hourly drawing prizes is a month of credit for phone services, said Kusznir.

New branding and logos will also be revealed at the grand opening. Kusznir said those will be arriving in the next couple of days.

“I'm excited,” Kusznir said.

Business has been going well since Kusznir took over the operation, allowing him to add more employees and expand hours. When he first started the operation, he hired one employee to run the storefront and hours were limited to 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Fridays. Now, there is an office manager and a technician, and the hours are expanding to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Kusznir also said a technician is available for house calls.

Colfax Computer offers recycling of old computers, laptops, tablets and mobile devices and repairs broken screens.

There will be more changes for the business in the coming months, Kusznir said.

“I do hope to have some exciting announcements for the county here in the next six to 12 months,” he said.
