Collett exhibit

A exhibit of realist works by Oregon artist Sam Collett will be on display at Dahmen Barn July 2-30. An opening reception will be Sunday, July 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. Collett lives at Joseph in Wallowa County, which he decribes as "a land of vast and majestic beauty" and "a constant source of inspiration."

He will also conduct a two-day workshop at the end of July in addition to being the featured artist for the month in the Hay Loft Gallery.

Collett received his formal education at Westminster College, studying with Don Doxey, followed by study in the master's degree program at the University of Utah. He taught drawing and painting for more than 25 years in many venues in Utah and the Pacific Northwest.

at Dahmen barn

Adults can learn finger painting July 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Dahmen Barn. Instructor Alyssa Hopkins will show how to create a beautiful hydrangea painting.

Wine and Art at the barn is on the fourth Thursday with a different art project each month. All materials are supplied in the classes.

Cost for the class is $35. Registration deadline will be July 26.

Colfax Troop 595

Three scouts each advanced through four ranks levels May 18 at the troop's year-end picnic at Schmuck Park. Carter Casten, Gene Gibler and Austin Gunnel received badges for the Boy Scout, tenderfoot, second class and first class ranks.

Levi Kellogg received badges for the first class and star ranks.

The badges were presented by Scoutmaster Mark Clinton.

The troop plans to attend summer camp at McCall, Idaho.
