Alex McGregor addresses the crowd Sunday during presentation of a framed 1972 letter which was written by his mother, Norma McGregor, as part of her efforts to found the Whitman County Historical Society and start the Perkins social. Present for the dedication of the Palouse Variety apple tree in memory of Ken Vogel were, from the left, Bart Vogel and Barbara Billings of Seattle, Mr. Vogel's brother and sister-in-law; David Benscooter, vintage apple tree researcher; Sally Vogel, and Heidi Danaher, who represented the faculty at Colton where Mrs. Vogel retired after 29 years of service. The memorial marker was provided by the Colton faculty.

The Snake River Six returned to perform at Sunday's social. Members of the band are Jeanne McHale, keyboard; Joe Evans, trumpet; Don Peters, saxophone; Deni Snider, trombone; Joel Pals, drums, and Dave Beznicek, tuba.
