Colfax Arts Council is asking for donations of art, art supplies and décor for a fundraising effort in August.
“Everything from the ridiculous to the sublime,” said Debbie Snell, CAC secretary.
“Any kind of art or decorative object you no longer want any more,” she said. “Arts and craft items will also be welcome.”
Pre-loved art can include any art piece owners no longer are interested in keeping, whether it be paintings, prints, sculptures or decorative items–even if it is a decorative vase or paperweight. Donations of frames, art supplies and art books are also welcome, including lightly-used paintbrushes.
“All of us have all sorts of things in our collections,” Snell said. She plans to contribute frames she won’t be using and some old art that is nice, but that she just doesn’t have room to hang anywhere or that doesn’t match with her décor.
CAC had a pre-loved art sale several years ago. Snell, who had donated vintage clothes to that sale, said it went well and quite a bit was sold.
Sale of the pre-loved art is set for the August First Thursday event, Aug. 3. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Colfax Arts Council and its projects. Funds are needed as the council just exhausted its supply of banners for the H’Art of the Palouse contest. The arts council also provides prizes for the Inspire Palouse contest and supports the crack art project.
Anyone interested in donating items can contact Snell about pick-up or drop-off.
“I’m willing to pick up,” she said.
Those looking to expand their art or supplies–or who just want to support the arts council–can peruse the merchandise at the First Thursday sale.
“(It will) sorta be like a treasure hunt,” said Snell, who recalled the variety of art items at the last sale.
Donations will be accepted through Aug. 1. To contact Snell call: 509-879-7997.
