New fire truck in action

Rural Fire District 11’s new truck was in action Saturday when crews responded to the brush fire on McNeilly Road. The new truck was built on a Freightliner L150 chassis and replaces a 1979 International, according to Fire District Chief Craig Corbeill. It will be stationed in Colfax. The truck can carry 1,250 gallons and is a four-wheel drive that can handle terrain in field fires. The tank and crew box were mounted on the chassis at Palouse Welding. Emergency lights and other equipment were added by Terry Cochran, Greg and Roger Hall of Steptoe.
