Serving Whitman County since 1877
The Council on Aging will host its annual Senior Picnic at the Rosalia City Park July 11 at 12 p.m. This is the second year of the event which is open to all seniors.
“Anyone over 60 for us is considered a senior,” said Paige Collins, COA executive director.
The event consists of barbecue fare, including hamburgers, salads, cookies and fruit, as well as entertainment by the Old Time Fiddlers with special appearance by Slinky the Clown. The event is free with a suggested donation of $4.25.
Last year was the council's first senior picnic.
“It went awesome,” Collins recalled. There were nearly 100 people in attendance, despite poorer weather. A bus arrived with seniors from Pullman. Others came from Palouse, Colfax and Rosalia.
Collins hopes to draw more communities in this year. To make that possible, COAST Transportation can be arranged for any senior living in the county. Rides through COAST are free.
To arrange for a ride, contact the Council on Aging in Colfax at 397-4611.
