Dick and Helen Appel and 42 family members spent four days at Camp Rumblewood near Sequim. They spent time clamming, kayaking, exploring tide pools, visiting and eating. Susan Lynch and daughters Cecilia and Abagail visited her parents, Dick and Helen Appel for two weeks. Joe Lynch joined his family the last week. They live in West Layfayette, Ind., where Joe is doing post-doctoral work at Purdue University. Bruce, Elaine, Logan, Charlie and Spencer Appel, Spokane, recently visited Dick and Helen for a weekend. They went boating Sunday and visited with the Eric Appel family that evening.
Apricots are on at Warm Springs Ranch orchard on the Snake River. Call Bryan Jones for an appointment to pick. They are 80 cents a pound.
Bryan, Gena and Fran Jones recently returned from a trip to Taber, Alberta, where they joined members of Fran’s family to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of her nieces. All of the Jones family had attended the wedding in 1967.
Gena Jones and her daughter, Meggie, returned to Chatillon, Italy, July 5. Meggie will visit her father, Lino, her grandparents, other relatives and friends until mid-August when she will return to the United States to attend the University of Vermont in Burlington.
Damien Perron and his friend Paulo are spending time with the Jones family for the next two months. Uncle Bryan appreciates their help and Grandmother Fran is in admiration of their cooking skills. Paulo is determined to improve his limited English vocabulary.
The Stolle family, Hubertus, Monika, Johanna and Theresa are visiting Dick and Suzy McNeilly from Vechta, Germany. JoJo was an exchange student at Colfax High School this past school year. While in the States, they have traveled to California and Oregon. JoJo will attend volleyball camp at WSU.
Karen Broeckel spent an extended weekend in Spokane. She attended her aunt Luetta (Letty) Schaal Spencer’s burial at Greenwood Terrace Memorial Cemetery and memorial services at Heritage Funeral Home Friday afternoon. Spencer was the youngest of the late Amelia Broeckel’s 14 siblings. Saturday, she attended a Schaal family reunion at the home of cousin Danny and Nadine Fauser Nilles near Medical Lake. Sunday, she was treated to dinner out by her two sisters, Jeanette Nolan, Colfax, and Patty Wieber, Spokane. Monday, she babysat Lauren, Grady, Holden and Murphy, children of Andrew and Emily Nolan, before returning home.
