Dodd Snodgrass meets with city officials and public at a session at the library June 29.
Colfax City Council members Monday night confirmed the appointment of Dodd Snodgrass to be the new administrator for the city.
Mayor Todd Vanek said Snodgrass could potentially begin work in his new position Monday at City Hall.
Councilman Jim Kackman, who made the motion to confirm the appointment, said he was impressed by the way Snodgrass presented himself when he made his visit to the city as one of two finalists for the city position which has been open since November.
Vanek said Snodgrass was very attentive when he made his visit and had done a lot of research on the city beforehand.
Snodgrass is a development specialist with the Port of Bellingham and has been employed there since 2001. Prior to going to Bellingham, he was employed with the Clearwater Economic Development Association at Lewiston.
He was raised in Lewiston and is a graduate of Lewiston High School and the University of Idaho. He received a graduate degree at Iowa State.
Snodgrass, during his visit here, said he views the city administrator’s job as a change in career mode from the development work he has done with the Port in Bellingham.
The second finalist for the position was Sam (Debra) Hughes, administrator of the City of North Bonneville in Skamania County.
